I met this woman at a local bar. I told her I would draw her like one of my French girls. She accepted my offer and I hung her over my couch. True story.
Wondering what I could do to really step outside my comfort zone, I decided to try something with a bit more brush work. I trashed two of what I, at the time, thought were “final” images and countless rough outs before refining them into this piece.
This piece was made for an aspiring stand-up comedian. She was looking for something fun to share on social media as well as a little inspiration for what the future may hold.
Deciding it might be time to paint something OTHER than a woman, I picked the next most beautiful thing: a sunset. Playing with how light and water interact is something I’m interested in exploring more for my next piece(s).
An experiment in minimalism.
This piece was inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki. The serene woods seemingly inviting the young inquisitive girl to create her own path -- her own adventure -- beyond the fence.
